About

Digital media creation has caused an incredible impact to the artistic values and creation process. While original and traditional art cannot be reproduced in true essence of creativity, time and space, value of digital art is a matter of wide discussion owing to its reproduction-ability.

Traditional art is an outcome not only of the expressions of the artist but holds a certain spiritualistic quality due to its uniqueness, The interactivity of such art with its audience is a one-to-one relationship. On the contrary, digital art interactivity can be multi-dimensional and limited only to the level of technology being employed.

As we witness further advancement of technology, creation of art using artificial intelligence (AI) is also of interest in artists raising further research questions on the value of art and the future of artistic endeavors.  Will AI be creating unique artwork replicating the traditional art inspiration that traditional artists employed and what will be value assigned to such artwork.

The assignment of content rights created through such AI also raise questions that would need clarification as these may impact the value of such art. It would be interesting to see legal and copy right issues arising as a result of such AI created artwork. The mere definitions of artist, media and art would take some time in settling for such art. For example, one can argue that AI created art is an influence of traditional art thus complicating the copy right issues.

An argument therefore can be made that original art value would keep on increasing and digital media can be used to appreciate it. Digital means would continue to be the media for discussion and spread of such traditional artwork, for people of explore and enjoy.
